Does whitening toothpaste really work?

There are tons of products available in the market with claims to whiten the teeth, including whitening toothpaste, whitening mouthwashes, whitening rinses, pens, gel kits, and much more.

But do they work?

Whitening toothpaste:

In a case of whitening toothpaste, they help remove the enamel pellicle which is a biofilm that forms on the tube.

If you had red wine, coffee, tea within the last 18 hours, it could help remove those stains and whiten the teeth.  The whitening toothpaste contains some of the ingredients of the hydrogen peroxide and silicates that help remove stains.

However, it cannot turn yellow teeth in white because of the minimum quantity of Hydrogen peroxide.

To completely whiten the yellow teeth, you will need a complete whitening system that consists of two critical parameters:

  • The concentration of Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Contact time

To turn yellow teeth into pearly whites, you need to make a visit to the dentist, who can assist you in how to bleach your teeth.

Whitening toothpaste, mouthwashes and rinses do contain a smaller percentage of hydrogen peroxide and they work ward of stains of tea, coffee, and red wine. But to get pearly whites a proper whitening system is required, which is available at the doctor’s clinic or try some at-home teeth whitening kits.
